The Simpson Strong-Tie ABW44Z for 4x4 posts is an adjustable post base which offers moisture protection and finished hardware appearance. These post bases feature 1" standoff height above concrete floors, code-required when supporting permanent structures that are exposed to the weather or water splash, or in basements. They reduce the potential for decay at post and column ends. Additionally the ZMax® coating provides additional protection from exposure to the elements. The ABW44Z allows you to set the post and then adjust it to the exact position you desire before tightening the anchors. However, ABW44Z post bases do not provide enough strength to stop the post from twisting so they should only be used in top supported situations. Due to this increased galvanized thickness these connectors would be expected to have a longer service life than standard galvanized connectors.
